The Foster Trainer Program
Our Foster Trainer Program is a multi‑stage educational pathway designed to build long‑term training capability inside 501(c)(3) organizations. We begin with an introductory course, where volunteers learn foundational terminology and basic application of dog‑training concepts. Those who show interest and aptitude can progress into our intermediate and advanced courses, offered at later dates. Students will move from learning theory to practical application—developing training plans, assisting other fosters and adopters, and working real behavior cases under trainer oversight.Â

This model allows organizations to cultivate skilled trainers from within, rather than relying on outside professionals who have invested heavily in their education. Volunteers receive a comprehensive, standardized dog‑training education—effectively at no cost—in exchange for their service. They gain real‑world experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities-giving them a unique opportunity to grow professionally while contributing meaningfully to their organization. The result is a consistent, high‑quality training standard across the organization and a sustainable pipeline of capable, well‑prepared trainers.
